The Mexican parrotlet (Forpus cyanopygius) is a species of parrot in the family Psittacidae. It is endemic to Western Mexico.
Mexican parrotlets are highly social birds, sometimes found in small groups, or alone, but mostly found in flocks of twenty to fifty. They give a variety of screechy sounding vocalizations. They eat fruit such as seeds, berries and figs which they find on trees or on the ground.
Natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry scrublands, deciduous forests, open grasslands with scattered trees, heavily degraded former forest, plantations, and woodlands along watercourses.
