Metzger is a census-designated place and unincorporated community, in Washington County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2000 census, the CDP population was 3,354. It is named for Herman Metzger, who platted the community.
Herman Metzger platted the community, which was actively marketed from 1908–1909. The main line of the Oregon Electric Railway passed through the community, and had a stop that was located off Locust Street east of Jefferson.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.
Washington Square, a major shopping mall, lies immediately west of Metzger.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,354 people, 1,500 households, and 831 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 4,556.0 people per square mile (1,750.0/km²). There were 1,583 housing units at an average density of 2,150.3 per square mile (825.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 86.02% White, 2.71% Asian, 1.10% African American, 0.92% Native American, 0.98% Pacific Islander, 4.38% from other races, and 3.88% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.50% of the population.
