Mervyn Cumming is a British television director. He has directed multiple episodes of the soap operas Coronation Street.,Emmerdale and EastEnders. He also directed Brookside, Family Affairs, and both versions of Crossroads. In 2001, he was nominated for a BAFTA Award for his work on Byker Grove.

Recent directing work includes the feature film Tanner., which was nominated for several awards at film festivals worldwide. He directed the documentary Dad's Army & Beyond, about the life and career of Frank Williams, which premiered at the BFI's National Film Theatre as part of the 40th anniversary of Dad's Army in 2008. He was later interviewed for the Dad's Army podcast while attending a screening of the documentary in 2009.

He continues to direct both drama and documentary, with recent 1960s thriller Murder by Appointment. doing the festival rounds, a television drama The Golden Years in the offing, and a series of documentaries about the English language coming soon to DVD.
