The England Hockey Men's Hockey League is the highest tier of male hockey competition in England.

The League consists of four different competitions: Premier League, East Conference, North Conference and West Conference. Each league consists of ten teams playing each other twice, once home and once away, giving each team 18 matches over the season. At the end of season the top four placed teams compete in playoffs to decide who will play in the European Hockey League. The tenth placed team in the Premier League is relegated to their respective Conference whilst the ninth placed team and the top placed team from each of the Conferences compete in playoffs for the two places in the Premier League.

The MHL Premier League is the highest level of domestic hockey in England and is formed of ten teams. The top four placed teams at the end of the season play in a League finals weekend, where the first plays fourth and second plays third in the semi finals. The match winners meet in the final final to determine the champions. The top two or three teams, depending on how well the English clubs do in Europe the year before, get entered into the Euro Hockey League.

The bottom placed team at the end of the season gets automatic relegation to the Conference level, the second lowest team enters into a playoff round robin with the leaders of each conference to decide who will occupy the two available places in the Premier League. During the winter break from December to February the clubs play in the Super 6s Indoor Championship.

For the 2017-18 season only two clubs outside of the Southeast and London will play in the Premier Division.
