Melanie Wade Goodwin is a Democratic former member of the North Carolina General Assembly, and represented the state's 66th House district for three terms. First elected in 2004, she announced that she would not seek a fourth term in 2010. She has served two terms as Chair of the House Election Laws and Campaign Finance Reform Committee and House co-chair of the Joint Legislative Administrative Procedures Oversight Committee.
An attorney, Goodwin has been a Deputy Commissioner at the North Carolina Industrial Commission since July 2011, and serves as a hearing officer for workers' compensation cases throughout the state.
Goodwin is married to Wayne Goodwin, former State Representative and state Insurance Commissioner from 2009 to 2017. They have two children.
