Mfou is a town in the south part of Cameroon. It is not far east of the capital, Yaoundé. It is a rural area and the activities of the inhabitants are basically subsistence agriculture. The rate of teenage pregnancy is alarming in this locality as the family structure of Mfou is a problem.
Mefou National Park is home to wildlife, and is used as a shelter for primates that are native to Africa: the monkey, chimpanzee and gorilla. In 2010, the shelter's manager, Colonel Avi Sivan, was killed in a helicopter crash.
