This is a list of Mayors of Seattle, Washington, USA.
On January 14, 1865, the Territorial Legislature approved the incorporation of the town of Seattle. However, following submission of a petition by several of the Town's citizens, Seattle was unincorporated on January 28, 1867. Records of this two-year period of municipal government did not survive. During this period, the city was governed by a board of trustees, with Charles C. Terry as its president. The town (now a city) of Seattle was incorporated a second time on December 2, 1869. A new city charter that was approved by the city's voters in 1946 lengthened the term of office for mayors from two years to four years, starting with the 1948 elections.
