Mayfield is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States, about 14 miles (23 km) northeast of Scranton. In the past, it contained a silk mill and a coal mining industry. The population was 1,807 at the 2010 census.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,756 people, 744 households, and 503 families residing in the borough. The population density was 718.6 people per square mile (277.9/km²). There were 795 housing units at an average density of 325.3 per square mile (125.8/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 99.43% White, 0.06% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.06% from other races, and 0.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.40% of the population.
There were 744 households, out of which 26.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.3% were non-families. 29.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
