Maurice "Mobetta" Brown (born January 6, 1981) originally from Harvey, Illinois is a Grammy Award winning American jazz trumpeter, producer and composer.

While a student at Hillcrest Highschool in Country Club Hills, Illinois, Maurice had the experience of performing at Symphony Center in Chicago with jazz artist Ramsey Lewis. Attending college at Northern Illinois University on a full scholarship he furthered his studies at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, collaborating with the jazz clarinetist Alvin Batiste. At this time he moved to New Orleans. Maurice won first place in the 2001 National Miles Davis Jazz Competition. The year 2004 culminated in releasing his first album as bandleader of his group of musical artists known as the Maurice Brown Quintet. In 2012 Maurice won a Grammy Award for best blues album (Revelator (Tedeschi Trucks Band album)) as a member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Currently Maurice has relocated to New York City, NY.

These include working with Ellis Marsalis, Jr., Johnny Griffin, Clark Terry, Lonnie Plaxico, Stefon Harris and recording with Fred Anderson (musician), Ernest Dawkins, Curtis Fuller, Roy Hargrove, George Freeman (guitarist), Michelle Carr, CeeLo Green, Aretha Franklin, De La Soul, Musiq Soulchild, The Roots, Wyclef Jean and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. On Brown's latest CD release, "Maurice vs Mobetta", he features Jean Grae on the track "Back At The Ranch".
