Reverend Matthew K. Meigs |

Matthew Meigs was the former president of Delaware College and founder of The Hill School.
He graduated from Union College in 1836, and Union Theological Seminary in 1839 from which he qualified as a Presbyterian Minister. Afterwards, he taught at the University of Michigan for four years.
In 1851, he followed his sister-in-law to Pottstown, Pennsylvania (where she had founded the Cottage Seminary for Young Ladies) and founded his own school after purchasing a mansion from Nathaniel P. Hobart.
