Matthew "Matt" Oswalt (born September 25, 1970) is an American writer, actor, and comedian. He is the younger brother of comedian Patton Oswalt.
Oswalt was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on September 25, 1970, the son of Carla Oswalt (née Runfola), and Larry J. Oswalt, who was a United States Marine Corps officer. Oswalt did not attend school.
Oswalt's first television credit was as a writer for the children's program All That, which he wrote for four years.
Additionally, he is the creator of the surrealist comedy web-series Puddin' Strip, which featured regular appearances by brother Patton Oswalt, comedian and actor Robin Williams, musician Weird Al Yankovic, actor David Koechner, comedian Paul Provenza, actor Colin Hanks, entertainer Dana Gould, writer Jake Fogelnest, public figure Steven Weber, and best friend Eddie Pepitone. The show was cancelled sometime in 2013 for unknown reasons.
Oswalt is a prolific user of Twitter. At the 2016 Grammy Awards he live-tweeted during the program including a sardonic eye roll directed at Jill Soloway in response to her calls to "topple the patriarchy".
He is a critic of U.S. President Donald Trump, and convinced actor Mark Hamill via Twitter to recite actual tweets written by Trump in the sinister voice of the Joker character from the Batman franchise.
