Matt Johnson (born 15 August 1961) is an English singer-songwriter. He is best known as the vocalist and only constant member of his band The The. He is also a film soundtrack composer (Cineola), publisher (Fifty First State Press), broadcaster (Radio Cineola), and conservationist/local activist (Save Shoreditch).
He lives between East London, Manhattan and Gothenburg. He is the brother of artist Andy Dog Johnson (died 2016), who designed many The The and Some Bizzare record sleeves, Eugene (died 1989) and Gerard, director of Tony (2009) and Hyena (2014).
