Mathew "Mat" Erpelding (born January 10, 1975 in Denver, Colorado) is a Democratic member of the Idaho House of Representatives from the north Boise-based District 19 in the A seat since December 1, 2012. Erpelding has been House Minority Leader since 2017.
A native of Denver, Colorado, Erpelding moved to Idaho in 1993 to attend Idaho State University in Pocatello, graduating in 1997 with a BA degree in psychology. He later earned a master's degree in adult education and organizational learning while attending the University of Idaho's Boise-based campus.
In 2003 Erpelding founded Experiential Adventures LLC, which offers "clients hands on leadership experience in fun and progressive learning environments."
Since 2010 Erpelding has served as a social and behavioral sciences instructor at the College of Western Idaho. An accomplished mountaineer, Erpelding has summitted Mount McKinley (Denali) four times.
During the 2012 session of the Idaho Legislature, Erpelding served as an aide for Representative Brian Cronin (D-Boise). He has also been vice chair of the Ada County Democratic Party.
Erpelding currently serves has Idaho House of Representatives Minority Leader, due to John Rusche losing his reelection in 2016 against Mike Kingsley.
