Marple Newtown School District (MNSD) is a midsized suburban public school district which serves Newtown Township and Marple Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Marple Newtown School District encompasses approximately 21 square miles (54 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 35,437. According to District officials, in school year 2007–08 the Marple Newtown School District provided basic educational services to 3,499 pupils. The student demographic is about 86% Caucasian, 11% Asian, 2% Black, and 1% Hispanic with 51% being male and 49% being female.

In 2011, Marple Newtown School District employed 301 teachers, 371 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 21 administrators. Marple Newtown School District received more than $8.6 million in state funding in school year 2007–08.

Marple Newtown School District is governed by 9 individually elected board members (serve four-year terms), the Pennsylvania State Board of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Pennsylvania General Assembly. The federal government controls programs it funds like Title I funding for low-income children in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the No Child Left Behind Act, which mandates the district focus resources on student success in acquiring reading and math skills.

Marple Newtown School District was ranked 83rd out of 498 Pennsylvania school districts by the Pittsburgh Business Times in 2012. The ranking was based on student academic achievement as demonstrated on the last three years of the PSSAs for: reading, writing math and science. The PSSAs are given to all children in grades 3rd through 8th and the 11th grade in high school. Adapted examinations are given to children in the special education programs. Marple Newtown School District ranked 7th out of 15 public school districts in Delaware County. The highest ranking public school district in Delaware County was Radnor Township School District which ranked 4th statewide (2012).
