Mario sports games

There have been numerous sports games in the Mario franchise. Although originally a branch of the Mario sports games, the Mario Kart series is not included in this list, as it has since become a stand-alone series in the Mario franchise.

While Mario appeared in several tennis games preceding it, the Mario Tennis branding was first used with the Nintendo 64 game Mario Tennis. Each successive generation features a console and a handheld version. Like the Mario Golf series, all of these games are developed by Camelot Software Planning.

Released in stereoscopic 3D

The Game Boy Color version utilizes the transfer pak to transfer information to the Nintendo 64 version. This marks the first appearance of Waluigi.

Re-released as part of Wii's New Play Control! game lineup.

As with tennis, Mario appeared in multiple golf games before appearing in a Mario branded entry on the Nintendo 64. Mario Golf is a sports video game series that is developed by Camelot Software Planning and published by Nintendo. This series introduced golf to the Mushroom Kingdom. A second version was released for the Game Boy Color. Since then, there have also been releases of one game on both the GameCube and the Game Boy Advance. The fifth installment was released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2014.

The N64 and Game Boy Color versions can communicate each other via Transfer Pak connectivity, and the GameCube and GBA versions can do the same via the Nintendo GameCube – Game Boy Advance link cable. Players can upload characters and data into the other game.
