Mario Esteban Bergara Duque, PhD (born 4 May 1965 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan economist, public accountant, professor and politician.
Bergara graduated as Economist (1987) and Public Accountant (1990) at the University of the Republic. Later he obtained an MA (1997) and a PhD (1998) in Economics at the University of California, Berkeley.
He served as Deputy Minister of Economy (2005–2008), then he presided over the Central Bank of Uruguay (2008–2013).
As of 21 December 2013, he was appointed Minister of Economy and Finance, replacing Fernando Lorenzo.
