Marge Bergman is a character in the now-cancelled American soap opera Search for Tomorrow. She was played by actress Melba Rae until her death in 1971.
For many years, Marge was married to Stu Bergman, and had been best friends with her neighbor, widow Joanne Gardner. She and Stu were always there when Jo needed them, and always knew how to make things better. She was a great mother to her children, Janet and Tommy. Her most famous line was "Oh Jo, (or Stu, or whoever) it's not as bad as you think." Because she and Jo were best friends, their daughters, Janet and Patti became best friends as well.
When actress Melba Rae died of an unexpected cerebral hemorrhage, the character also died off-screen. After that, Stu and Tommy moved out of the family home, because of so many memories of Marge, and moved in with daughter Janet and her new husband, Dr. Wade Collins.
