Marcello Menegatto |
Marcello Menegatto, also known as His Serene Highness Marcello of Seborga (born in Lecco, Italy, 12 March 1978), is a businessman of Italian origin who claims to be the head of state of the Principality of Seborga, a micronation located in the municipality of the same name, in the Province of Imperia, in the region of Liguria, which is not recognised by the Italian government or any other world government.
On 25 November 2009, the Prince of Seborga, Giorgio I, died from complications due to Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at the age of 73. Therefore, a new prince had to be chosen. The election occurred on 25 April 2010, and Marcello Menegatto won with 89 votes, defeating his opponent, Gian Luigi Morgia, who received 67 votes.
He ran again in the 2017 elections on 23 April, defeating Radio Caroline DJ Mark Dezzani.
