Marc Butan is an American film producer and the founder of MadRiver Pictures; a global film production, finance, and international sales company.
During Butan’s illustrious career, he served as co-president of Sierra-Affinity, president of Panorama Media, president of 2929 Productions, executive vice president of Production at Lions Gate Entertainment where he was responsible for overseeing all creative elements of film development and in-house film production at the studio; and previous to that he served as chief media and entertainment investment banker for Kidder, Peabody & Co. and Prudential Financial. Throughout this whole period Marc produced and oversaw over 50 productions of which include George Clooney’s Good Night, And Good Luck which was nominated for six academy awards, James Gray’s We Own The Night , Andrew Dominick’s Killing Them Softly, John Hillcoat’s The Road, Andrew Niccol’s The Host, Greg Kinnear and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Criminal starring John C. Reilly and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Godsend starring Robert De Niro, and Akeelah and the Bee starring Laurence Fishburne, Angela Bassett and Keke Palmer, to name a few.
