Eponym Russell H. Manners

Manners is a lunar impact crater located in the western part of the Mare Tranquillitatis and is named after Russell Henry Manners. Nearly 45 km northeast is the larger crater Arago, about 70 km west is Ariadaeus and to the south are Ritter (about 60 km) and Sabine (about 75 km).

Its diameter is 15 km long and is 1,600 meters deep. The area is about 170 km² and the perimeter is over 45 km.

The crater has a rim with a higher albedo than the surrounding mare, making it appear bright. This is a circular, bowl-shaped feature with a raised rim and a relatively flat interior.

By convention these features are identified and realised on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Manners. Manners A is located just more than a crater diameter (about 25 km) west.
