Man of the Forest is a 1933 American pre-Code film directed by Henry Hathaway, based upon a novel by Zane Grey, released by Paramount Pictures, and starring Randolph Scott and Verna Hillie. The supporting cast features Harry Carey, Noah Beery, Barton MacLane, Buster Crabbe and Guinn "Big Boy" Williams. The film is also known as Challenge of the Frontier (American reissue title).

Hathaway directed much of the same cast (Scott, Beery, Carey and Crabbe) that same year in another Zane Grey story, The Thundering Herd, and also Scott, Beery and Crabbe in To the Last Man, yet another Zane Grey story that year..

Based upon a novel by Zane Grey, Man of the Forest involves a young lady (Verna Hillie) who is captured by a band of outlaws led by Clint Beasley (Noah Beery). Brett Dale (Randolph Scott) figures out their plan and rescues her.However from here the plot gets confusing because she thinks that Scott is one of the outlaws.So she des not mind him.Hillie tries to run away from him but she eventuallly runs into a pond so he picks her up and places her on his horse while he is carrying her to his horse he loses his hat so when he bends over to pick it up she rides away from him.But she does not know that his horse is very well trained when he whistles it returns.When they finally reach his cabin Scott gets a pail for water to keep her from catching a cold and when he starts a fire she grabbs his gun and he grabbs her around her waist and administers eleven spanks to her bottom.The story ends with her uncle finding her.
