The Maio Second Division is a tier-3 regional championship played in Maio Island, Cape Verde. The competition is organized by the Maio Regional Football Association (Associação Regional do Maio de Futebol, ARMF). The winner of the championship plays in the Maio Premier Division in the following season
The division was formed in 2015 along with the north of Santiago and are the recent that were created today, it consisted of four clubs, Real Marítimo was the first to participate, it would have consist of five clubs for the 2016-17 season, as Beira Mar withdrew due to financial reasons, it continued to have four clubs.
Originally that would be the first to feature five clubs, only four participated.
