Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO), (Marathi: महाराष्ट्र मेट्रो रेल महामंडळ, महा-मेट्रो ) is 50:50 jointly owned company of Government of India and Government of Maharashtra headquartered in Nagpur.
The existing Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) will be reconstituted into the MAHA-METRO for implementation of all Maharashtra state metro projects, except the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Project will be covered under the legal framework of the Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978; the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002; and the Railways Act, 1989, as amended from time to time.
The MAHA-METRO is responsible for all the metro rail projects undergoing in Maharashtra except Mumbai Metropolitan Area.
Currently Nagpur Metro project is under construction and Pune Metro project also sanctioned by cabinet. These two projects, Nagpur Metro and Pune Metro will be now implemented by MAHA-METRO.
The upcoming Greater Nasik Metro will be also implemented and operated by MAHA-METRO.
