MacArthur Center is a shopping mall in Norfolk, Virginia, in the center of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. Built by the Taubman Company, the mall is owned by Starwood Capital Group since October 2014.
Plans were first announced in June 1994. The original mall was intended to have Macy's, which had signed a letter of interest.
The 1,100,000-square-foot (100,000 m2) structure is adjacent to the General Douglas MacArthur Memorial. It is anchored by Nordstrom and Dillard's department stores, with space for a third major anchor tenant. There are 400,000 square feet (37,000 m2) of mall tenant shops and 100,000 square feet (9,300 m2) of food and entertainment offerings, including the Regal MacArthur 18 movie theater.
The 140-store mall opened in March 12, 1999, with the region's first Nordstrom department store and up to 70 new-to-market stores.
Every winter since 2005, MacArthur Center has operated a 7,200-square-foot (670 m2) ice skating rink on the property.
