Love in the First is the debut album by American R&B artist LATIF. The album was released on September 23, 2003, on the Motown label. It peaked at #67 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
The only single, "I Don't Wanna Hurt You" was written by Sean Garrett and Latif. About the creation of this song, Latif says that Garrett:
"Listened to what I was going through and helped translated that into this beautiful song."
One notable song on the album that was not released is "Rain Will Go Away", which is about feelings after a breakup:
"It's about my wish for an ex-girlfriend to also find love, because she's beautiful and deserves it."
Still another notable song on this album is "It's Alright", which is more upbeat than the other two, and is about it being alright if him and a girl break up, if she doesn't like his friends.
