Lodi (Pashtun tribe)

Lodi (Pashto: لودي; Persian: لودی) is a Pashtun tribe of the Bettani family, being the group of Pashtun tribes who claim descent from Bet, the second son of Qais Abdur Rashid.

The Lodi dynasty ruled from Delhi in India between 1451-1526. The sultans of this dynasty were Bahlul Lodi, Sikandar Lodi and Ibrahim Lodi. They spread Islam in South Asia, in particular Sufism. They established themselves during the Islamic period as a Muslim ruling class and were valued warriors.
