Litchfield Township is a civil township of Hillsdale County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 969 at the 2000 census.
The City of Litchfield is surrounded by the township, but is administratively autonomous.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 33.1 square miles (86 km2), of which 33.1 square miles (86 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) (0.06%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 969 people, 357 households, and 285 families residing in the township. The population density was 29.3 per square mile (11.3/km²). There were 382 housing units at an average density of 11.5 per square mile (4.5/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.01% White, 0.41% African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.52% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.55% of the population.
There were 357 households out of which 28.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.3% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.9% were non-families. 16.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
