List of towns in Prince Edward Island


A town is an incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island.

Prince Edward Island has ten towns, which had a cumulative population of 21,491 and an average population of 2,385 in the 2011 Census. The province's largest and smallest towns are Stratford and North Rustico with populations of 8,574 and 583 respectively. The province's newest towns are Borden-Carleton and North Rustico, which both changed from community status to town status on July 31, 2012 and November 16, 2013 respectively.

Prince Edward Island's Department of Finance, Energy and Municipal Affairs is currently considering an application to incorporate a town named Central West Prince. The proposed town is located north of O'Leary and west of Alberton on either side of Highway 2 within Prince County, approximately 50 km (31 mi) northwest of the City of Summerside. The proposed town covers a land area of 2,187 ha (5,400 acres) and had an approximate population of 2,527 in 2011.
