World War II: The troopship was bombed and sunk in Gratangen, off Foldvik, Norway by aircraft of Lehrgeschwader 1, Luftwaffe, with the loss of 18 lives.

World War II: Operation Dynamo: The ferry was bombed and sunk off Dunkerque, France with the loss of 26 lives. The survivors were rescued by HMS Vanquisher ( Royal Navy).
