Pennsylvania Rail Trails are former railway lines that have been converted to paths designed for pedestrian, bicycle, skating, equestrian, or light motorized traffic. Rail trails are multi-use paths offering at least pedestrians and cyclists recreational access to the routes.
Pennsylvania contains a total of 93 different rail trails. The trails cover a total of 1063 miles (1710 km), and an additional 635 miles (1021 km) have been proposed.
