The Forbes 400 has been published annually since 1982, the List of members of the Forbes 400 can refer to the list published in any of those years. The combined net worth of the 2016 class of the 400 richest Americans is $2.4 trillion, up from $2 trillion in 2013. The average net worth of a 2016 Forbes 400 member was $6 billion, and the lowest ranked member had $1.7 billion. As of March 2015^[update], the US had 536 billionaires.
