List of item numbers in Indian cinema

An item number or an item song in Indian cinema is a musical performance, in which at least one of the main performers is in a Special Appearance (i.e. just for that song) and typically it has little to do with the subject of the film in which it appears. The term is loosely used in Bollywood, Kollywood and Tollywood, to describe a catchy, upbeat, typically sexually provocative dance sequence for a song in a movie.
