List of The Gates characters

This is a list of the characters featured on The Gates created by Grant Scharbo and Richard Hatem developed by ABC.

Nick Monohan is the new Chief of Police in The Gates. He moves in with his family in order to start a new life from his detective work in Chicago, which ended when he shot a man. However, as soon as he moves in there are problems. The old Chief seemed to hide the neighborhood problems by bribing them, which makes Nick determined to find what it is the gated community has to hide. He figures out that someone was robbing at The Gates when all the families that went to the local football game reported missing items. He discovers the culprit, the high school history teacher, when he becomes suspicious on why Brett lied about where he and his friends went riding.

Physical Description: She has black hair in a bob, with dark brown eyes and tan skin. She is short. Sarah is Nick Monohan's wife, the new chief of police in The Gates. She is also the mother of Charlie and Dana Monohan. She is addicted to Devon's tea even when Claire and Karen warn her.

Member of The Gates PD for a year now, which is nearly the record for police officers.

Claire and Dylan's adopted daughter. She is closer to her father Dylan who shows more affection to her. In episode 10 she is kidnapped by Christian, possibly as a luring bait for Claire and Dylan (revenge for Dylan almost killing him). She reveals to her parents that she has known for some time that they are vampires.

Physical Description: A tall handsome man, with brown hair and blue eyes. Dylan Radcliff is a vampire, husband and sire to Claire Radcliff. He is of British origin and is from London. He wants to assimilate into the human life at The Gates and does that by gathering blood for his family to drink from his company. In episode one, he helped clean up Claire's mess when she killed a human by bring the dead body out of The Gates and made the body look like it was attacked by wolves. He saved Nick's life by killing Teresa who planned to kill Nick and all his family because Nick killed her brother who was a murderer and rapist. From that day on he and Nick have formed a friendship and work together. It is unknown how old he is but he reveals he walked the streets of London before there were cars.

Claire Radcliff is a vampire and wife to Dylan Radcliff, made by him decades ago. Together, they have an adopted daughter named Emily, whose parents were murdered by Claire eight years ago. Claire is having a hard time adjusting to concealing her vampirism. She has urges to drink human blood even if it means accidentally killing someone. The new Chief is suspicious of her because her husband easily covers for her problems she has created but cannot accuse her of her crimes. In episode 3, she meets another vampire named Christian that it seems like they have known each other before she moved to The Gates. During dinner, they discuss her life and if she is happy with it. While she was using the restroom, Christian seduces a girl in order to drink her blood. When they are outside in the alley, Christian convinces Claire to drink. Later, after she rejects him, Christian bites Claire, thus breaking her bond with Dylan. Claire later kills Christian with a stake through his heart.
