Scream is an American slasher horror television series developed by Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie for MTV and is based on the slasher film series of the same name created by Kevin Williamson. The series premiered of June 30, 2015, following the airing of the second episode of the fifth season of Teen Wolf, to mixed reviews from critics, though it has slowly earned a strong fan base throughout its run.

As of October 18, 2016, 24 episodes of Scream have aired, concluding the second season. Following the airing of the second season finale, it was announced that a two-hour Halloween special would air on October 18, 2016. On October 14, 2016, MTV renewed the series for a third season to consist of six episodes, which will premiere in 2017.

As all returns to normal, Audrey is pranked by Haley Meyers and another stranger attempting to terrorize her and ends up stabbing the other stranger because he was dressed as the previous killer and wearing a Brandon James mask, who survives since his camera strap blocked it. Emma returns home after three months away at a treatment facility for her PTSD. Brooke leaves Jake after he angers her. The same night, Jake is secretly attacked by a new killer. Noah begins an obsession with the previous murders and theorizes that Piper had an accomplice, which drives feelings of unease with Audrey considering her former connection with Piper. Audrey is later harassed by someone who is aware of her interactions with Piper. Emma notices on Noah's murder mystery board a picture of a barn to which she makes a link of the place in her dreams. Curious, she and Brooke go to investigate the barn. There, Jake is murdered with a scythe. Emma enters the barn and finds nothing, therefore causing her to question why she's dreaming about the barn. She then turns to see someone living the abandoned house next door. Emma enters the house seeing pictures of her younger self and clippings of the murders. She then notices a dark figure in the background and screams.

Emma, who escaped the barn unharmed with Brooke, returns with Maggie to find that nothing Emma saw earlier that evening is there anymore, concluding she hallucinated. Kieran's aunt, Tina says that Kieran has to move to Atlanta because he is living in his dad's house without a guardian. Emma turns to Ms. Lang for help when she has a hallucination of Piper. Noah finds something which leads him to a motel where the receptionist, Eddie, who claims he saw Piper's accomplice. Emma faces her fears at the dock at Wren Lake before getting followed home by someone who is revealed to be her father. Audrey is led to an abandoned warehouse where she finds Jake's body.
