National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is the highest-level professional soccer league for women in the United States. As of 2017, it consists of ten teams. As of 2016, the NWSL will use 10 stadiums. The highest attendance in the league's history occurred on April 23, 2016 at the Orlando Citrus Bowl when 23,403 people watched the Orlando Pride defeat the Houston Dash 3–1 in a regular season home match.
Originally, many NWSL teams rented university stadiums. As the league has grown, NWSL teams have increasingly used MLS stadiums either by MLS ownership of NWSL team or increased cooperation between existing NWSL and MLS teams.
