In the 1971–72 season, C.D. Olimpia won its fourth title in the Honduran League after finishing in first position in the regular season with 40 points; the tournament had 27 rounds without playoffs. Olimpia were crowned on 4 June 1972 in the 1–3 away victory over Lempira F.C. at the Estadio Francisco Morazán.
