Liege Lord is an American speed/power metal band, active in the 1980s and considered to be a pioneer of the genre. It was formed by Matt Vinci, Anthony Truglio and Frank Cortese.
Reaching cult status in the metal world with their three releases, the band featured Joe Comeau, who would later go on to play with thrash metal bands Overkill and Annihilator. Guitarist Anthony Truglio went on to play in the band Gandhi with Page Hamilton from Helmet, and also played in the new version of Helmet. Guitarist Paul Nelson received a Grammy nomination as guitarist and song writer with Johnny Winter on Virgin/EMI, and he performed on Late Night with David Letterman Winter in 2012 in support of their Megaforce/Sony release entitled Roots which he performed on and produced. He also appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show on ABC TV to promote Winter's Step Back CD which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts Featuring Eric Clapton, Joe Perry, Joe Bonamassa, Ben Harper, Leslie West Ben Harper and Dr. John. Nelson received a Grammy for "Step Back" and also appeared in Johnny Winter's "Down and Dirty Movie", which he also the films Executive Producer. Billboard chart's top 200 with the band Halifax. Nelson did guitar work for WWE (then WWF) on nationally broadcast television specials.
