Liechtenstein first participated at the Olympic Games in 1936, and has sent athletes to compete in most Summer Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games since then.
Athletes from Liechtenstein have won a total of nine medals, all in alpine skiing. It is the only nation to have won all of its medals in one event at the Winter Olympics. It is also the only country to have won medals at the Winter, but not Summer, Olympic Games.
The Liechtenstein Olympic Committee was created in 1935.
Xaver Frick, a founding member of the country's NOC, is the only Liechtenstein athlete to have competed in both the summer and winter Olympic games.
