Leptopelis is a genus of frogs found throughout Africa. They are medium-sized, semiarboreal frogs, with distinctively large eyes. They vary greatly in color and patterning, but as juveniles tend to be bright green in color, and as they age they turn to a brown. Forty-nine species are recognized, but most are not well understood and their taxonomic status can vary greatly by source. They have a number of common names, including forest tree frogs, leaf frogs, and big-eyed frogs.

L. vermiculatus is frequently exported from Tanzania for the exotic pet trade. They are hardy frogs that adapt well to captivity, and readily consume commercially available crickets.
