Lego Interactive (formerly Lego Media, and later Lego Software) was the publishing division of the Lego Group, founded as Lego Media in 1996. After the commercial success of Lego Island by Mindscape, Lego Media would go on to further publish Lego-themed games. In late 2000, the company started using the alias Lego Software, and then, in early 2002, transitioned to Lego Interactive to further publish titles in collaboration with Electronic Arts, and later with THQ. After the release of Lego Knights' Kingdom, former Lego Interactive staff opened Giant Interactive, acquiring an exclusive license for the production of Lego-themed video game license, and went on to co-publish Bionicle: Maze of Shadows, as well as every other Lego-themed video game that was to follow.
