Legislative district of Iligan

The Legislative district of Iligan is the representation of the highly urbanized city of Iligan in the of the Philippines. The city is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its lone congressional district.

Prior to gaining separate representation, areas now under the jurisdiction of Iligan City were represented under the Department of Mindanao and Sulu (1917–1935), historical Lanao Province (1935–1961) and Lanao del Norte (1961–1972; 1987–2010).

Even after receiving its own city charter by virtue of Republic Act No. 525 on 16 June 1950, Iligan remained part of the representation of the Province of Lanao. When Republic Act No. 2228 divided the old Lanao Province into Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur on 22 May 1959 and provided them each with a congressional representative, the chartered city of Iligan — despite being enumerated as part of the territory of neither successor province — was designated as Lanao del Norte's seat of provincial government and became part of its congressional representation.

Iligan City was represented in the Interim Batasang Pambansa as part of Region XII from 1978 to 1984. Having been declared a highly urbanized city in 1983, Iligan was represented separately from Lanao del Norte, and returned one representative to the Regular Batasang Pambansa in 1984.
