Leeds Force is an English basketball club based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, playing in the British Basketball League. They play their home games at the Carnegie Sports Centre, located on the Headingley Campus of Leeds Beckett University (formerly Leeds Metropolitan University) in Beckett Park.
The team was established in 2006 as Leeds Carnegie in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University, and found early success in lower divisions of the English Basketball League. In 2009, after just three years since being established, Carnegie earned promotion to Division 1 and cemented a place as one of the league's frontrunners. They were crowned National Cup winners in 2013 and have won the Division 1 Championship Final in 2014, following a 71–65 victory over Reading Rockets.
In 2014, after six seasons in Division 1, the club were accepted into the country's pre-eminent competition, the British Basketball League, along with its senior women's team who stepped up to the WBBL. In view of the move and to gain more professional independence, the club cut its ties with Leeds Metropolitan University and rebranded as Leeds Force.
The club holds Sport England and England Basketball Club Mark accreditation as well as being an England Basketball Four Star club.
The club was formed in 2006 in a partnership between Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds-North East School Sports Partnership. The newly established team adopted the name Leeds Carnegie after Carnegie College, which forms part of the University's sports department – notably, the same approach was taken by the city's rugby union team, Leeds Tykes, who went into partnership with the University the following year and subsequently rebranded as Leeds Carnegie Rugby.
