Leeds City Council elections


One third of City of Leeds Metropolitan Borough Council in West Yorkshire, England is elected each year, followed by one year without election. Since the last boundary changes in 2004, 99 councillors have been elected from 33 wards.

Since 1973 political control of the council has been held by the following parties:

Boundary changes took place for the 1980 election which increased the number of seats by 3, leading to the whole council being elected in that year. Further boundary changes made in 2004 again required the full council to be elected.
