Le Pâquier is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.
Le Pâquier is first mentioned in 1637 as Pasquier.
Le Pâquier has an area, as of 2009[update], of 4.5 square kilometers (1.7 sq mi). Of this area, 3.08 km2 (1.19 sq mi) or 68.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.78 km2 (0.30 sq mi) or 17.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.59 km2 (0.23 sq mi) or 13.1% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.02 km2 (4.9 acres) or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.2% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 8.7% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.4%. Out of the forested land, 14.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.7% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 5.6% is used for growing crops and 50.1% is pastures and 12.5% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The municipality is located in the Gruyère district, on the northern foot of Moléson mountain.
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Azure, three Trefoils slipped issuant from Coupeaux of the same.
Le Pâquier has a population (as of December 2016[update]) of 1,168. As of 2008[update], 9.8% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (2000–2010) the population has changed at a rate of 16.7%. Migration accounted for 13.7%, while births and deaths accounted for 2.1%.
Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (871 or 93.4%) as their first language, German is the second most common (37 or 4.0%) and Portuguese is the third (11 or 1.2%). There is 1 person who speaks Italian.
