Lawerence Denney (born February 25, 1948) is the Secretary of State of Idaho. A Republican, Denney previously served a member of the Idaho House of Representatives, including three terms has Speaker.
Denney was first elected to the Idaho House for a single term in 1990.
He returned to the House in 1996 and served until 2014.
In 2006 Denney was elected Speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives and reelected in 2008 and 2010.
He was defeated for reelection in 2012 by fellow Republican Scott Bedke.
Denney won the Republican nomination four way race to replace Ben Ysursa for Idaho Secretary of State in 2014.
Denny defeated Democratic state Rep. Holli Woodings in the general election.
On Apr 19, 2017 Denny announced that he plans on seeking re-election.
Denney has a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho. He has been a farmer since 1972.
