Lane Cove River Tourist Park

Lane Cove River Tourist Park is a large caravan park and campground 10 km north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, located in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney and operated by National Parks and Wildlife Service (New South Wales). The National Parks and Wildlife Service (New South Wales) is a department of the Government of New South Wales and is staffed by officers dedicated to the preservation of the natural environment with the state.

This area within the Lane Cove National Park has been a camping area since at least 1968. There are records of amenities buildings being constructed in 1968 but it's believed that there was a campground or caravan park at this location previous to this date, likely dating back to the 1940s. Easts Holidays operated a lease at this site for a number of years until 1998. National Parks and Wildlife Service (New South Wales) (part of the Department of Environment and Conservation (now Department of Environment and Climate Change (New South Wales)) is a government department dedicated to preserving the natural environment of NSW and as such took over the operation of the caravan park in 1998. Since that time the amount of tree planting, bush regeneration & habitat creation has totally transformed the look and feel of the caravan park.

The Tourist Park and campground are located on the western side of Lane Cove National Park but is actually in the suburb of Macquarie Park New South Wales.
