Lanaria is a monotypic genus of flowering plants containing a single species, Lanaria lanata, occurring in South Africa.Lanaria lanata is commonly known as Cape edelweiss or lambtails. The genus is placed in the monotypic family Lanariaceae. The family has only recently been recognized by taxonomists. The APG III system of 2009 (unchanged from the 1998 and 2003 versions) does recognize this family.
