Eponym Johann Heinrich Lambert

Lambert is an impact crater in the Sinus Sabaeus quadrangle of Mars, located at 20.2°S latitude and 334.7°W longitude. It is 92.0  km in diameter and was named after Johann Heinrich Lambert, and the name was approved in 1973.

Nearby named craters include Bouguer which is not far to the northeast, Bakhuysen to the west-southwest and the large Flaugergues to the northwest. Also southwest close to Bakhuysen are the scopuli (escarpments) of Scylla and Charybdis which are named after the Greek mythical figures.
