Laako is a small town in the northern Sanaag region of Somaliland. The city lies between Badhan and El Ayo.
Laako has grown since the outbreak of the civil war. There is a local hospital, and one primary and secondary school.
Local control is disputed between Somaliland, a self-declared independent republic that is internationally recognized as an autonomous region of Somalia and the autonomous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia.
