Kunnicode or Kunnikode is a small village on NH 744 (Kollam-Thirumangalam highway) in the Kollam District.
It is located eight kilometers from Kottarakkara, ten kilometers from Pathanapuram and ten kilometers from Punalur.
The Pachilakkunnu hill located here is very famous.
There is a recent proposal to construct Sabari ByPass, which serves as an alternative to travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Sabarimala (The normal route is through Kottarakkara, Adoor and Pathanamthitta). This proposed route passes through Kunnicode. As per the proposal,a new stretch of road 0f 18 kilometres will be constructed Via: Pathanapuram (SH 08)-Kunnicode-Melila-Valakom (joins MC Road). This road reduces the distance from Thiruvananthapuram to Pathanapuram and Konni by 10 kilometres.
Famous temples like Avaneeswaram Mahadever Temple, Kadumangalam Sree Mahadever (Kochambalam)Melila Devi Temple,Thalavoor Devi Temple, Kidangayil Devi Temple and Pachilla Pally,Kunnicodu Muslim jamath pally, St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Avaneeswaram, etc. are situated nearby Kunnikodu. This place is known for its communal harmony.
Avaneeswaram High School,MES English Medium School,Ilavankuzhy LPS and Kunnicode LPS are the oldest educational institutes. The Kunnikode Police station is situated in the town centre only. Kunnikodu also have a Beverages corporation outlet in town centre. Nearest Railhead: Avaneeswaram, which is in the Kollam-Punalur rail line.
